Leading fashion footwear retailer Schuh has opened its doors, bringing with it 30 new jobs.
The 2,500sqft new store is in the replica rolex Crowtree Mall and is on a 10-year lease.
It will stock more than 90 brands including top names such as Ugg, Converse, Red or Dead, Adidas, Nike and Puma, as well as Schuh's own range of footwear.
Schuh operations director Tom Lynch said: "The Bridges offers an ideal shopping environment for the Schuh range, attracting our core target market.
"We are pleased to be bringing a new footwear offer and 30 new jobs to the heart of the shopping district in Sunderland."
The Bridges portfolio manager Jonathan Buckle added: "Welcoming Schuh as a new retailer to The Bridges in time for the Christmas trading period is a positive move and one which enables us to significantly extend our footwear offer, as well as bringing a boost to the local economy.
"Schuh is renowned for stocking the most up-to-the minute footwear trends at affordable prices wholesale colthing and we are looking forward to giving our customers this breadth of range and choice."
The latest addition to The Bridges comes hot on the heels of Toymaster opening in the Land Securities-owned centre, bringing an extensive
embroidered patches toy and children's gift offer to shoppers in the region.
lBB's coffee shop in The Bridges has closed after the firm went into administration last month.
The cafA[c] chain is being scaled back to about 80 stores, 30 of which will be directly owned by a new company, and negotiations are under way with franchisees.
About 40 franchisees have already left the group and 25 stores have closed.
